What to Expect From Treatments

Endovascular laser closure relies on a laser fiber that is threaded into a catheter and directed to the exact location of the vein. Heat generated from then closes the vein, permanently sealing it off. Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy relies on an ultrasound machine and a fine needle that injects a sclerosing solution directly into the affected vein. VenaSeal is an FDA-approved system that relies on a catheter and medical glue that is also injected directly into the the affected vein.
